Linnaeus’ Skåne Journey 1749
You will have a look at Skåne, the south province of Sweden described by Linné in his comprehensive book “Linné Skåne Journey 1749”. After Skåne you will visit his idyllic birth home, childhood district and school in Småland, and finally Uppsala, where Linné carried out his world-famous scientific achievement. This is where Linné had his home garden and country house Hammarby. This trip will take you to the Swedish rural culture landscape and the total contrast in Stockholm and Copenhagen.

Itinerary Tour Idea:
Day 1. Arrival Copenhagen or Malmö Airport
After check in at your hotel you will have a city tour before exploring the city on your own. Experience guided individual walks in the most trendy neighbourhoods.

Day 2. Visit to Lund where Linnaeus studied medicine for a year, Helsingborg and Kullaberg peninsula, nortwest Skåne.
Linnaeus studied medicine in Lund for one year in 1727. Walk from his statue via Undergrad Park, the Cathedral and beautiful University area to Lund’s Botanical Garden.

In the afternoon visit Helsingborg and Ramlösa Park, which celebrates 300 years together with Linné in 2007. Linnaeus visited Ramlösa, and much of the 18th century setting remains. The local bus will take you back to the centre in ten minutes.
In the city Helsingborg you will find Gamle Gård, one of the oldest buildings in Helsingborg, where Linnaeus stayed during his visit to the city.
In the afternoon visit the Sofiero Castle with its beautiful park on your way to Kullen Peninsula and the Krapperup Estate.
Day 3-4. Green Adventure in Northeast Skåne

Day 5. Småland and Råshult
There were farms and villages down here in Småland far lovelier and more beautiful than are usual elsewhere, but they were not big and grand.” (Linnés Öland and Gotland Journey 1741).
A visit to Linnés birth home in Råshult, one of Swedens ten cultural reservations and a pastoral idyll with flowering hayfields, lopped lindens, cultivated patches ploughed by horse and an old-fashioned kitchen garden and an herb garden. Linnéstugan has been restored to its 18th century condition. Carls father was a clergyman and very knowledgeable botanist, and he inspired his son with nature walks and tending the herb and vegetable gardens.
A kilometre or two from there is Linnés childhood district of Stenbrohult and the church with views over Lake Möckeln and Möckelsnäs Herrgård where the Linnaeus family were often guests. Check in at your hotel Möckelsnäs Herrgård and to Linnaeus childhood districts Råshult, Stenbrohult and Möckelsnäs in Småland You will have a tour of the orangery. In the evening drive on to Växjö for two overnight stays.
Day 6. Linnés schooldays in Växjö
Visit the town where Linné went to school. This is also the “Kingdom of Crystal” in Sweden so you will visit some of the famous glass studios in the area.
When Linnaeus was just nine years old he started his eleven years at the upper secondary school at Karolinerhuset by Växjö Cathedral. The school environment was tough with the discipline of the time but with good mentorship from his teacher Rotman. Today, the beautiful Linnaeus Park surrounds school and cathedral with flower arrangements in 24 groups according to Linné’s own system. The cathedral has a new altarpiece made of glass by the glassmaker Bertil Vallien from Kosta Boda.
Lunch at one of Swedens top restaurants. It has included flowers in its food for many years and has now created a special flower menu as a tribute to Carl von Linnaeus – using Småland produce in the spirit of the Flower King.
Day 7. Design of furniture and glass crystal in Växjö district
After breakfast make a round tour in the Crystal District, approx 200 kilometres.
In the evening domestic air flight (50 minutes) to Stockholm and Uppsala.
Day 8. Linnés family life in Uppsala
“In no garden could so many kinds of seeds have been sown as in Uppsala Garden during my time.” (Amendment on a point of form) from Linné’s autobiography no 4.
In Uppsala you will have a tour of the Linnaeus Gardens and Linnés home, now a museum. Short tour of the botanical garden, the oldest one in Sweden.
Linnaeus herbarium. A short walk along one of Linnés paths where he taught his students – to Linnés Sävja, a farm to which Linnaeus retreated to enjoy peace and quiet and mix with “ordinary people”.
Continue by bus to Hammarby, his country house, just outside Uppsala. The house at Hammarby was built by Linné and is one of the best-preserved 18th century houses in Sweden. The day ends in Uppsala Cathedral by Linné’s tombstone and monument. Dinner in central Uppsala.
Day 9. After breakfast a 50 minutes to Stockholm and your hotel situated at a walking distance from the old town and shopping centres.
Including a city tour and a Stockholm activity card with free admission to more than 75 museums and attractions.
Day 10. Departure from Stockholm to origin country or domestic to Skåne (Ängelholm or Malmö) for departure from Copenhagen.

Transfer different alternatives depending of size of the group and preferences:
Rental car, two sharing approx SEK 930 per day plus SEK 300 for one way car(drop off at the airport in Växjö) – no discount weekends with one way car.
Group, ask for sep. itinerary by coach from Copenhagen – to Växjö, domestic flight to Arlanda and coach to Uppsala, coach to Stockholm city.
