Äventyr i nordvästra Skåne
In the wheel tracks of Carl von Linné/Linnaeus
Travel through quaint fishing villages, forest rides through the Kullberg Nature Reserve, where you will be able to enjoy the famous Swedish sunset. Pulled by Scandinavian Working Horses, you can guarantee you a guided and memorable trip.
Linnaeus stayed at the home of Captain von Kochens, Krapperup, which was built in the late 16th century and rebuilt in the 1790s. Aquavit of good taste was made of windfalls. Here used to be heeling water where people threw their coins on a midsummer day. On the order of Von Kochen one example of all the species of captured fish Linnaeus would hand over the following morning for examination. He found that the herring was the fattest and best he had seen. Linnaeus noted that 300 fruit trees in the orchard and an abundance of lavender and white lilies grew in the garden of Krapperup.
The steep walls of Kullberg ( Kullen Mountain) were higher than the highest church). At Kullaberg, Linnaeus described the twisted primary gneiss with thick seams of red rock. The red rock was later to be described as kulaite, a geological rarity,
And surrounded by the cliffs and beech forest you find one farmer at Kullagård, with its wonderful view over and sea towards Torekov and the Bjäre peninsula.
The Kullabygden district has long been a popular and frequently visited tourist attraction. At the beginning of the 1900 trains ran directly from Berlin to Mölle, which was renowned for its scandalous mixed bathing. Today there are no longer any trains but the bathing places still attract many visitors.
The district is probably best known for its ceramics and chiefly for the dark, salt-glazed Höganäs jars and pitchers. Today the tradition lives on and many potters and artists have chosen to settle in the Kullabygden district.
A calash was used to transport the members and equipment of Carl von Linné/Linneaus expeditions as it travelled through Skåne during the summer of 1749. By using Linnaeus own descriptions it is possible to visit the places Linnaeus once studied. The original manuscripts belong to the Linnaean Society of London.
