Opening of Gothenburg —Stockholm 

Shortly before the end of 2011, the train company Skandinaviska Jernbanor AB inaugurated its train Blå Tåget (Blue Train). Train enthusiasts from different industries are responsible for this unique project, and they share a common vision; to offer quality travel for tours in Sweden  in a genuine train environment where the journey itself is part of the experience.

Blå Tåget is a unique train journey in Sweden, crossing the country and offering a touch of  everyday luxury — an unusual journey in a pleasant environment offering good service and friendly personnel, together with good quality food and drink. The food is prepared on board and is served in beautifully presented restaurant carriages. You can travel directly between Gothenburg and Uppsala, a total of 5 hours, without having to change trains. This classic journey makes for a memorable part of your experience in Sweden. Stations where you can get on and off include Skövde and Stockholm.

The trains are equipped with new, environmentally friendly electric locomotives. The renovated train carriages are from the sixties and create a genuine train environment, with all the latest comforts including internet on board. In the spring, there will even be a piano bar joining the train.
