During winter, there is a very special Christmas atmosphere all over Skåne. You can find delightful Christmas gift shops in several of our towns and cities. Enjoy the St Lucia celebration December 13, or visit one of the traditional Christmas markets, which are held in manor houses and estates all over Skåne starting in November. Find what you want for your Christmas table, some traditional and some a little more exotic.

Here you will find small stands with handicrafts, food and beverages. In addition to Christmas items there are many other sorts of creations made from wood, metal,

Experience a genuine traditional Christmas market. Some 60 exhibitors will be displaying handicraft, food and antiquities, and a brass band and choir will provide live entertainment.
Food, glögg (mulled and spiced wine) and much more is offered. Merchant Erland Bager built this country manor on the outskirts of Malmö in 1813. The home was a “country manor”, a manor house where agriculture was also pursued.

Medieval Christmas Market
Malmö has a medieval Christmas market is held December 9-10 (starting up December 8), opening hours 10.00-16.00, and entrance fee: SEK 40. -![]()
Kogg Museum (Cog Museum) is an experience centre built around full-scale replicas of two medieval cog ships – trading ships that sailed the Baltic Sea in the 14th century.
Visitors are treated to the unique history surrounding the ships and can even go aboard the world’s largest cog ship!
Lucia – Queen of Light

On Wednesday December 13 the City of Malmö celebrates the traditional coronation of its very own Lucia. This uniquely Swedish celebration of light – the figure of the saint, dressed all in white with a candle wreath in her hair, has come to symbolise the banishing of darkness and night. Follow Lucia and her maids on a horse-drawn procession from the St Johannes Church through the city streets to the Stortorget, where they will be performing from the balcony of the Residenset (the Governor’s Palace)

In November 24 – 26 Christmas festivities will take place at Sofiero Castle beautifully illuminated with an abundance of torches. Feel a true Skånsk Christmas.
